Resident Commissioner's office is working almost as a small embassy of Government of Maharashtra at New Delhi similar to other State Government's Resident Commissioner offices in Delhi. This office was established in 1965.This office is an important link between Mumbai-New Delhi and vice-versa. The main job of this office is to maintain co-ordination and liaison between the State and the Central Government. Resident Commissioner is the administrative head of Maharashtra Sadan for administrative works and all practical purposes
To
maintain coordination between State and Central Government, following works are
being undertaken by this office:-
1.To
follow up the pending issues/proposals of the State Government with various
Ministries of Central Government.
2.To
follow up the proposal to obtain the President’s approval (wherever required)
on bills and ordinances of the State.
3.To
follow up for release of grant and financial assistance for various schemes
under different programmers for the State Government.
4.To
provide information to Central Government from various Departments of State.
5.To
get clearance and to fulfill other formalities for the foreign tour of VIPs and
other senior officials.
6.To
provide all possible assistance in the form of organizing meetings, fixing
appointments and providing relevant information and documents for the meetings
to Hon. Governor, Chief Minister, Dy. Chief Minister and Ministers during their
visit to Delhi.
7.To
represent the State Government in different meetings and conferences.
8.To
provide information related to the issues concerning Maharashtra to Hon. MPs and
MLAs.
9.To
procure copies of notifications and resolutions from various Ministries of
Central Government and provide them to the State Government.
10. To receive and see-off, to make arrangement
for accommodation, transport etc. to visiting VIPs in Delhi.

investment in the State, a
post of Investment & Protocol
Commissioner & Principal Secretary has also been created in Maharashtra
Sadan, New Delhi.
In
order to give best assistance to the Members of Parliament of Maharashtra in
their Parliamentary work, a “MP
Cell” has been created at Maharashtra Sadan, New Delhi. The information on the status of various matters of the State
Government, issues to be taken up with Government of India is being given to all
the Members of Parliament.
The
social life in Maharashtra Sadan is depicted and truly reflected in Diwali, Holi,
Gudi Padwa festivals celebrations, Ganeshostav, Maharashtra Day celebration and
death and birth celebration of our national heroes and leaders. These
celebrations offer an opportunity to show the glimpses of rich cultural,
political, social, historical heritages of Maharashtra and the interaction among
the concerned.
